Seak Pedal Kayak

Post by rogs » Sun Mar 26, 2017 11:13 pm

Guys i'm interested in buying this kayak from Anaconda for $ 1500.00. Any idea or reviews of our fellow fishos about this product?
I think it's the same kayak made by Kings Craft kayak.Looks quite cheap for a pedal yak or its not?
Thanks

Maybe check out other places online and around your local area. Would suggest boatsales.com.au too, they have some on there!

I have never seen one but the things worth asking - can you get replacement parts for the drive if it fails if not it will make your investment fairly worthless

I'm not a fan of pedal drives myself you should think about if you really need the extra components that can fail - going cheaper makes you think that these units could be week or will wear out quickly --- one thing you can say for Hobie is they have after sale service even guys building hot up gear like stainless steel pedal shafts to replace the weeker aluminium std parts

of cause this comes at a price Hobies are not the cheap end of town

are you after a pedal yak for any special reason

At $1500 and sold by a major retailer like Anaconda, it's worth a serious look. I haven't seen or heard of these and cant find info on them. But the assumption that at $1500 pedal yak is cheap is not necessarily correct, when Hobie essentially had the Pedal yak market all to themselves (license to charge whatever they wanted) with Native providing some early competition and a few others popped up in the last two years.
Definitely worth a look. and for me I prefer a pedal yak over a paddle yak any day for fishing.

I can't find anything on anaconda that matches that description. Kings Kraft are made by Crazy Kayaks in Sydney, I doubt he's big enough to distribute to a chain like anaconda.

Kings Kraft might be ok, but I'd be waiting for a few more reviews before I bought one; the consequences are fairly severe if their pedal drive packs it in a few km out as they look like a bit of a tub to paddle back in

Pedalfish is the one that copied the Slayer, they ended up getting sued for it and now the remaining stock needs to be cleared asap if anyone is looking for a cheap (albeit unethical) kayak: http://www.kayaksonline.net/kayaks/fish ... edal-kayak
