I would recommend you stick with either native or hobie for a pedal kayak at this stage, a few others appearing on the market but all that I've looked at have got a few bits and pieces to work out. I ended up going with a hobie because I found the ability to keep propulsion even in water shallower than your drive a huge bonus and didn't find the pedalling on a native as natural. I'm not a huge help when it comes to the native range but when it comes to the hobies I would definitely recommend an outback. I am able to stand up and fish off it easily for extended periods. Roof topping them is easy with a bit of practice.

Personally I find the PA's an absolute pig to handle, the revo losses the ability to stand and fish, the sport is fantastic in small waterways but questionable out in the open and I don't think there is any need to say why the AI isn't applicable.

Definitely recommend test days in each kayak and if you go an outback a post 2015 model (has vantage seat), square hatch, sailing rudder and turbo fins are essential imo, there are a few other extras that help but these really make the kayak.

I'd say my hobie i9s, inflatable, with pedals, no need for roof racks or a 12ft+ long thing hanging around when not in use. Slightly larger than a regular suitcase when deflated, incredible primary stability (almost vertical around 75° angle before it will go over, but once it hits that point you're swimming)...

If this thread is still alive I would also ask for help. I need an inflatable kayak for 2 persons. I have a rather small trunk, and there is no trailer. I have an external trunk on the roof, but I use it for tents and gear. I need a kayak for fishing on the lake and the river. The main requirement is that it would be compactly composed. My car is a Mercedes w210. Fishing equipment - 4 spinnings, one large tent, several blankets, a portable gas stove and a small bowler. It all takes quite a lot of space and therefore neither the boat nor the usual kayak suits me. Are there any options for me?

I still hope for your answer, because in the middle of next week I have to buy. I did a little research on the Internet. Unfortunately, I was not used to trusting in everything, but I gathered some information. According to the recommendation from Google now are popular sea eagle, Advanced Elements, Sevylor, Intex and Coleman. According to the site of kayakcritic.net - the same manufacturers, only the models differ. According to the bestadvisor version, Intex and Sevylor also prevail.
SO, I narrowed the search to these manufacturers. Tell me please whether anyone of you used kayaks from these brands, which one should be chosen considering my situation?

Not a lot have experience with inflatables. The best of the lot are the hobie pedal drive inflatables, but they are expensive

I would recommend going down to SLH Hobie in Mornington and organize to do a trial on the water with both the PA12 and the Outback and see what best suits you.
You won't go wrong with either one of these yaks.
I have owned both!

As the last post suggests, Go to Scott Loving Hobie in Mornington or Rod Bendings in Inverloch & arrange a test ride.
You're limiting yourself by your vehicle & other gear which means you won't get the best setup for most enjoyment, but you'll get something that does the job.
Hobie has been making watersport (yachts, surfboards, kayaks etc [& skateboards] ) equipment since the 1950's with a solid reputation.
I would certainly trust Hobie but can't vouch for the other brands.
