out the front of Flinders 4/02/18
Out the front of Flinders today with my mate Leejo - -- we launched around 8.30 am out the front of the golf coarse with the kayaks around the bottom of the tide and started trolling as soon as we were out of the marine park - very little happened
giving that up as a bad joke we did some Micro Jigging in about 20 meters a cuttlefish and wrasse came my way and then a very excited Leejo noticed fish under him and couldn't make out what they were thinking maybe Tuna there had been reports of them in the area
not long and I had a good view of a big school of what looked like around meterish Kingfish only about 5 foot below the yak - **** loads of them the whole screen on the sounder looked like a huge bait ball but it was kings from half way up to about 3/4 the water column
they just weren't interested in what we had on offer and they moved on as quick as they arrived
one boat must have called Leejo over a little while latter as they have found the king school again but the boaty like us also had nothing that interested these fish
a bit more trolling and back to the Micro Jigs - I lost count on Wrasse but also pulled a nice 35 cm hood squidly doodle and also dropped another just a small piece of squid left on the hook to prove he had been there
not the first squid I've taken on M/jigs ether
so that was the day very nice on the water - little wind or swell - just not much to show for it

Sounds like a fun day out bud! Those kingies can be frustrating buggers. Did you drop any livies amongst them?

It would have been pretty exciting to see a big school of kings underneath you like that!

Would’ve been awesome to see kings. Shame they weren’t fooled by what you were offering. Maybe a live squid could’ve enticed one? Always next time!

Re: out the front of Flinders 4/02/18
I was out in the area about the same time (must have been a bit further out as I didn't see in yaks). It was a great day, I didn't see any Kings, but I've never seen so many salmon....they were everywhere. I was out on a mates boat and thoroughly enjoyed being a deckie for a change...nothing better than being out on the water with a few mates and a few beers on a flat, sunny day (catching fish is just a bonus!)
