What size is best for a decent battery for a sounder and lights for night fishing?

depends on your budget - most guys use a 7.2 AH lead acid - they are cheap and depending on the sounder can run out of juice
if I was fishing though the night I use to take 2 batteries of the above

now I use a 12 v 7 ah FPV Power Lithium

they also come in a 17.5 AH as above

the biggest differences are weight a 7.2 L/Acid weighs 2.5 Kg and of cause 2 are 5 kg where as a 7 ah FPV is 455 gram and the 17.5 still under a kg
also the lithium can be drawn down lower than a Lead Acid and these also have a better safety if you get a short -

best to look at how many Amps your wiring system uses - my nav light uses a couple of meters of white strip LED wraped around a polly pipe that uses a bit under 1/2 amp but sounders can use a lot more - of cause if you are parking at anchor you will switch the sound off anyway
