I broke my g.loomis (fantastic rod) and I have just bought a shimano cranx ($140 BCF ATM) my mate had one I didn't mind it so I bought one it is $100 cheaper then the g.loomis and I think it's on par.

agree with what most of you guys have said. Some of the cheaper rods can do really well. I steer clear of the really cheap rods because I need the casting distance and sensitivity, but at the same time I can't really justify getting a $400 rod yet. That sonic pro has also landed my pb snapper of 4kg on a SP and it did just fine. Just waiting for christmas specials now to get a new rod!

If lure fishing. Yes most def. But it's your call on how expensive you want to go. There's $150 rods and then $450 rods. Personally for me id go the cheaper of the two purely because of value for money type of scenario.
If bait fishinh I wouldnt by anything vwry expensive.

you can drive to Sydney in a dirty old Datsun, and you will get there. Of course better rods are worth the money. wouldn't you rather drive to Sydney in a Ferrari?? Just buy the best you can afford
