What's more important, a good rod or a good reel?

It's a Tica Streamstar 7'. I put some 6lb line on it to go trout fishing with it last week and I thought that instead of putting thicker line on it for my trip up the coast this wknd maybe I should get another reel then I have one ready with the light line and one with some slightly heavier line. Later on I could get a rod to go with that second reel.

It's actually my girlfriends rod but she tends to lose interest a bit when we go fishing, so I'm going to adopt it as my own I think.

Buy a reel that's has 2 spools. Most come with them for this very reason so that you can run 2 difference line classes on the same reel.
As for the first question.
Both are important. But personal choice also comes into it.
Good reel so i that you can have good drag and its a lot lot more smoother to wind. Plus generally half the weight of the shitty ebay spec reels
Good rod si that you can cast well. Detect even the tiniest of bites. And also play the fish well. Along with weighing bugger all.

MY reels are mostly twice the cost of my rods.but that was a personal choice not because I think reels are more important
Cheers

Entirely dependent on the application.

But almost always you cannot ignore the rod or the reel otherwise it will come back to bite you.

God told man there are obedient and loving wives in all corners of the world, then he made it round and laughed and laughed and laughed
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!
