cheers guys,
plenty of good options there,
another question, what line would you put on it. usually fishing for salmon and possibly gummys in the future
I personally wouldn't use braid (and don't on my Surf Rods). My graphite spin rods - Absolutely.
I find 20Lb Mono plenty for surf fishing and is more forgiving than braid. If you fish sharp rocks, reefy areas or rough beaches your braid will get frayed and break.
I understand you get more line on a reel with braid and can cast a bit further but unless you have a drone to take your line 500+meters out or your'e doing balloon fishing (with nobody next to you) I find it impractical.
Also braid if it hits mono can slice through it and it's really really good at seriously tangling around other fishos mono/braid lines and is a nightmare to untangle compared to Braid.
But that's just my preference.
