Need a rod for my Sienna 4000

Post by Paul Foot » Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:27 pm

Hi

I have a 4000 size reel and no rod. Landbased fishing in mind for pinkies, salmon, whiting, flathead and maybe a decent snapper using soft plastics and maybe metal lures off the beach. Thinking of a 9 ft Pfluegeur Illusion, 2 - 5 kg would work nicely but interested in opinions.

on the shimano front have a look at the impact nxt shore or the maikuro beach but for soft plastics your going to need a heavy jig head to load up the rod

The only thing that turned me off Shimano is the Sea Guides, but the sexy looking Impact NXT Shore has Fuji guides so definitely worth a look, but I had Cantana that was fantastic for soft plastics until I dropped it over the side of the Yak one day so I might have a think about the 902 version of that as well. Cheers.

The impact nxt is a far better rod than the catana, I haven't cast a maikuro to know what they are like.

for me i grabbed the maikuro beach feels great in the hand but i have not had a cast of it yet 28-75grams lure weight i do have the impact nxt 762 light spin awesome rod i use for soft plastics in close as for sea guides if you wash your rod after use it will be fine the only thing that cause,s corrosion is salt water
