you still don't get it do you?

It's the way you call people "fools" when imposing (not sharing) your views , you effing fool!
"Effing fool" the conversation didn't need to go down the path of personal abuse pretty pathetic. You asked I elaborated and it was in the context of purchasing an expensive reel for applications that they are not necessary for hardly imposing but I guess it has offended a few Stella owners who use them for bread and butter species.

Its great to have so many differant opinions.

Personally I think there over priced for what you get.

Catching big fish is a skill that takes a while to aquire.

The most skilled fisherman for big fish I know are the indigious....and they have handlines or at the best very basic gear.

rb85, out of curiosity mate, what sort of gear do you own.
you seem to be of the opinion that the expensive gear is a waste of money. so what in your opinion is value for money for bread and butter species.

Same reason people buy an Audi over a Kia or Hyundai - they get a warm fuzzy feeling and think they're somehow superior.

"Badge Snobbery" or something?

Amount of money spent != Better Performance ... and don't give me this toss about "smoothness" ffs...

That pretty much says it all. That one's been done to death - specialist gear to catch a squid... Pfft...

I own a range of gear from Stradics, Salinas, Azores, Daiwa Revros, Bait runners, Charter specials. These can be used for fishing for Snapper, Gummies etc and even for casting lures or trolling small skirts for Pelagic Species. These would be mid range product which will last a lot longer than entry level gear for the amount of fishing I do but also don't break the budget.

Expensive gear is not a waste of money for the right application Purple. If I take up Game fishing and am going to do it regularly I won't purchase TLD's will be Tiagras or Makaira's.

The construction and Drag system of a reel like a Stella is created for game like performance in a spin reel and anyone who targets calamari knows you don't need a reel to perform at the level a Stella was built for.
