Remove the spool, wipe the shaft. If the grease is dark, cleaning will do it. If you don't feel comfortable dismantling the reel, lube the shaft generously and spin the handle many times. Wipe again, lube and spin. It will relieve the stiffness. If you see black grease, I guarantee your bearing needs replacement.
