For this application we use TLD 20 30lb Fireline and 8-10kg rods. Terminal tackle to suit specific applications.
Allows you to catch most species that come along anything from a flathead to snapper to a 20kg plus gummy.

if your only fishing PPB mate, then watch the bcf catalouge sales and buy the combos they have on specials, anything in a 4-7kg with a 4000 sized shimano reel or 3000/4000 sized daiwa reel will do .
The generally have few shimano outfits in that range for $99 - $130

Blake,
The 4-8 kg rod u have is perfect for snapper and flatties in the bay. u can use that for bait or plastic work as well. Team it with a 4000 sienna and 25lb braid and you're set.

This is perfect for what your doing - tbh, almost anything would be fine for your requirements. If you hook into a big snapper you are going to want to have a reel with decent drag, but it doesnt need to be anything overly expensive.Sinsemilla wrote:BCF have a sale on shimano. One thing to consider is butt length, if you're sticking it into snapper racks, make sure you get something that has a little bit of length to the butt, or its a pain in the ass.
