I got a couple of Sustains last year ($150 each at Southern Sportsfishing) just before they brought out the new model.....they are a fantastic reel and I should have more in hindsight.

Thanks, do you know anything about the black Freams? There's not much info on the web. Nice little reel with more features than the 2015 models and not many around.purple5ive wrote:I would wait till the newer LT models from daiwa and newer shimano models are released soon and then make a decision.
The older models might drop in price again. Or you might want to go for a newer model..

the bonus Custom project spool offer is a good thing, but do you fish lighter line class to take advantage of that?

Cheers, no need for a custom spool, I would just run 10lb braid but do you have a link for that anyway?

Pretty much. You pay a slight bit more for the ci4 because of the weight saving and material costMattblack wrote:Guess it comes down to which feels better on the rod hey?cobby wrote:FK is an alloy body, alloy rotor, alloy spool and alloy gearing.
CI4 is a lighter graphite body, lighter graphite rotors, alloy spool and alloy gearing. CI4 stands for carbon infused 4which is a marketing term for the extra high strength carbon (graphite) body and rotor theyve developed. (graphite is a carbon material anyway) Daiwa call their special graphite Zaion
