I can remember as the sporting goods department manager in the Camberfield store flexion fishing rods and alpha reels being sold in K Mart in the early seventies . They were made by Jarvis walker in Nunawading Blackburn Melbourne. They ceased to be sold after the JW factory burnt down a lot of good rods were no longer made including the Black Queens. JW now is not the original coy. Wally
Always take a good look at what you are about to eat. It’s not so important to know what it is .but it’s critical to know what it was.

You have to put it into perspective...
The average earnings for a week’s work in 1965-66 was $57
Note that is the average, more than half of workers would be on less than that.

I'm not sure of the brand, but I bought myself a split cane rod from Coles in around 1960 to 1962, I was just a 10 - 12 yr. old kid, it was 4piece (I think) and around 12 foot. Broke it trying to lift a snag on its second outing and went back to handlines for around 5 years, got a white Jarvis Walker for Xmas in mid - late 60's.
