The more you use it, the better, it'll eventually fit all the way.

Vaseline failed... Here's some pics of the tip connection. You can see it's only about 2/3 of the way in. I'm just worried it puts too much strain on that part and it will snap when fighting a fish.

The butt join isn't as bad, it's only about 1cm but theres a lot more in than out

Yeah about the same with mine.
What i noticed is that the rod has a 'thick part', which some other rods nowadays dont have.
The thick part shows how the other piece "should" fit all the way in.
Rods without this thick part gives the illusion that the rod fits perfectly regardless how many cm the other piece got in.

No issue for me. But if you're not happy you can always return it.

That's how the rod is suppose to be.
It is a Spiggot Ferrule.
The idea being it is that it eliminates flat spots in the section.
It is a common ferrule system on alot of American Fly Rods.
We use the same system on our TiCA Graphite Extreme Series Rods
Associated with Strike Pro, Jigstar, Daiichi, Lumica, Mapso, Bushranger Lures, Eureka Lures, Senshi, Sax Scent, TiCA, Victory Knives, Tonic Sunglasses & McLaughlin's Bait[url]http://www.jurofishing.com

Tried it out yesterday at Docklands. One of the tips actually goes all the way into the mid section and it kept falling off. One time it flew into the water when I cast, lucky I got it back. Didn't fish for long but it feels good, just need to catch a fish.

The mid and tip are in pair, dont think you can mix and match.
It shouldn't be that loose to come off easily.
Double check with a local tackle shop.

If you just want to pull a fish ti test the rod, use bait on the bottom and size #6 hook, you'll catch bream in Docklands.
