In 1983 I saved up and purchased an ABU 7000 for $90, which is probably about $250 now. I punished it surf, rock and boat fishing over the years and it's still going strong today.

Best value bang for buck is sienna for sure. If they had easily changed knobs it’d be all I’d buy. Just can’t stand the t knobs for all day use.

Best value bigger stuff would have to be the older model saragosa’s. I’ve got a few of em and love em. Been through a lot of work in that time with minimal servicing

Worst value would be any no name or rubbish brand stuff worth more than $20. There’s way too much of it.

Best value reel probably the rovex endurance reel. Extremely high quality and for the price, cant beat it.

+1 For Shimano Sienna FD's. Unbreakable!
Earlier this year I did a weekend trip fishing the river in Bairnsdale, then rode my bike 100+Kms along the East Gipsland Rail Trail to Marlo with my telescopic rod and (with sienna reel) strapped to the front of my bike. Fished at Marlo then the following day, rode back to Bairnsdale and another quick fish before getting back on the train. Everything got covered in dust! By the time I got back home to Melbourne the reel was fully jammed up! Quick blow out with an air gun and a regrease and the thing was brand new again!

Best: alvey 500B i cant break the thing and ive dunked it into water before to show that it doesnt care just a lube and new greese and its happy,

Worst: possibly one i got at cash converters some dual drag system that had the bottom just not turn tho to be fair to it i should have had it serviced so its not THE worst ive had.
