Hi Guys,
I've just brought some 8lb powerpro to put onto my nexave 2500 reel.
Aside from a bit of mono to tie directly onto the spool how much (if any) mono (I'm using 6lb asari) would I need to use as backing so that the 150m of powerpro which has a 1lb equivalent length fills the spool properly?
Hope that makes sense....
Cheers.

Re: Backing mono on braid
Only way I know is to wind on the braid, then wind on the mono to correct fill level, then unwind to an empty spool, (I use a short screwdriver to hold the spool on a power drill and you can do it pretty fast but be careful) then transfer to another spool, then finally wind back onto the reel with the mono now under the braid.
Cheers from
Ango.

if your reel comes with a spare spool it makes things easier. you wind on the braid onto the spare, then fill with mono, then swap spools and wind FROM the spare to the empty.

Only way to get it spur on is to do what ango or basti suggested. Otherwise your taking a gamble. Which is what most of us do lol. Or go to a table shop and see if they can do it for you. Usually if you bought the braid from there. They are happy to do it for you

Cheers guys. It's the spare spool that I'm filling so I'll probably just wing it.
Normally get the tackle shop to do it, but brought the braid on sale from anaconda so rules that option out.
