Re: who uses circle hook and what you think of them?
I used to be convinced sz6 long shank hooks were the only way to fish for whiting. About march I started using 1/0 KL circles, and had 4 bag out sessions in a row. Now they are my go to hook. I still use sz6 long shanks sometimes, especially if I am hanging onto the rod, but they seem to smash the whiting just left in the holder.
I think the main thing is that you use a good quality hook with a super sharp point, and bait your hooks right so that the right amount of barb is exposed. I reckon that will make more of a difference if you arent doing it, over circles v J hooks.

This guy loves the circle hooks
circles are the way to go, wouldn't use any other hook tbh.
So does this guy
And so does this guy
Him too

Anyone used them for fresh water ?? I'm sure my Whiting circles would be ok for that might try them out next time I go out.

With Owner Mutu circles size 6 is about right. Their 1/0s are just a bit big. I've got a whiting on a 5/0 before though.mazman wrote: what size do you use for whiting and have you tried the larger hooks?
Yeah, they're sharp and they don't rust much. They're the same as the Owner hooks you'd buy in a tackle shop, they're just in a bulk pack.chris seafarer wrote:

Re: who uses circle hook and what you think of them?
I have been using circle hooks on Flathead to stop them swallowing the hooks and apparently using circle hooks on snapper makes it less likley for released snapper to die.
