Ps. Ducky
I was going to drift the baits out with a small ball sinker.
If that wasnt working was going to go to a snapper snatcher style rig.
Are you suggesting mono due to tangles that might arise??

Are you going to be fishing multiple rods?

If so. Unless you want to fish weighted and on the bottom you should really consider 15lb mono on the outfits. You also need a rod with a half decent backbone to set the hooks in the larger snapper. Suggest minimum 3-6kg for that.
Also something to consider - if you are going to be fishing WP, fibreglass option might handle some of the sinker weights a bit better.
Might not make it to wpb mate. Ppb only at this stage due to the current situations in wpb. Dont think deckys will be able to.manage weed and high currents and the by catch loll

Yeah correct. loose braid is a pain in the arse when multiple lines out. Better off with mono and it's cheaper.

I'd be getting a glass blank too. There's no benefit to graphite when the rod is sitting in the holder all day.

Thanks,
looking to run about 4 combos at this stage
was thinking of doing 2 drift baits and 2 snatchers to eliminate the line tangles, but lets see

i was going to use the rods later on for luring in case they are taking lures so ill stick with the graphite units i think.

Thanks once again guys.

If you are running snatchers then you want a bit of flex in the rod tip. It will give your baits better movement in the water as the waves move the boat up and down.

Righto, that does make sense..
i think maybe then ill use my 2 oldskool jarwis walker redbone rods with mono and snatchers on them, and buy 2 graphite units for the pillies to drift bait.

ill need to buy 2 reels for the glass rods, but im sure dinga will rescue me there.

i think that will makes much more sense..

ps - never realised you needed to let the snatchers bounce around, makes sense though so the tinsel stuff moves around a bit..

I always thought the tinsel on snatchers was there to mimic blood (that's why I put a pillie on them)...I've always had more luck using a snatcher, but I didn't know you had to bounce them about

Natural rocking of boat generally bounce them enough,,, if it's flat you have to work it a bit
I owned a Jarvis walker 6.6 boat rod n top guide folded over on it self .

ok, so fe wother options ive come across

shimano quickfire combo
Quickfire rod and sienna 4000 reel for $79 rod is rated to 4-8kg i think.

another option
jarwis walker combo from kmart for $49 (not bad actually 5 bearing reel and 6 foot solid tip composite rod)

also has anyone butchered a baitacaster rod to take a spinning reel.
most baitcasters are short in length which will be perfect for what i want

cheers
