Anyone out there have an opinion on glow hooks (do they work or are they a bit of a wank?)

I saw it before and was thinking the same thing. I guess it stands out fishing at night or in deeper water, kinda the same theory with glow in the dark squid jigs.
Ocean water can get pretty dark, plus i remember someone said fish eyes are very sensitive to light underwater, even a small tiny glow can get their attention. Even if the light isn't very visible to human eyes, it's an obvious glow/attractant for them.

Have personally never used them.

I guess light is a natural attractant to some fish?

I use 2 glow beads (spelling? I honestly don't know how to spell that word, first time I've ever had to write/type it I think 😂) above my hook, but my theory is that it could potentially be seen as the eyes of wounded prey for anything stalking it in the dark. No idea what a fish would think with a lit up bit of curved metal in their meal.

I swear by glow beads/tubing most of the time, but if there is bait on the hook, there isn't much left to glow and not sure it's worth the effort?

I am also big on glow beads normally I use the green ones. This year I am trying something different it still glows but it’s not green. In the uk they are big on beads and sequins flashy things.
I think the glowing effect is better the deeper the water, deep dropping they use salt water activated strobes

I normally use 2 green glow beads on my 2 hook rigs this year I have gone for 4 inches of glowing red tube just above the hooks I think it will look like either a pilchard entrails or a worm. I have made equal amounts using the green and the red to see if there is any preference.
