It's easier to dehook a swell shark on a single you see.....

I often wonder about that "range" issue for tailor, too - you definitely get them anywhere along the Victorian coast, but not reliably compared with places like Lakes Entrance or Marlo. The same goes for Luderick - they are in Port Phillip Bay, but I don't know of any spot where they are easily and reliably caught compared with the locations just mentioned. (Yes, I know you can get them at Mornington, but how reliably?)

At a guess, I assume they have habitats they prefer and will congregate at but are able to live anywhere if necessary. Seems a bit like mulloway, their range seems patchy and not 100% related to proximity to river mouths

they are where their food is and thats smig and anchovies not things like pilchards and the like .
