I think you might be right. The key is the bent bib. I can't even remember the shop I've seen them in to ask them

I caught my first yellow belly on a lure the same as that but a smaller size over 10 years ago never been able to find another one I've had a few good lures that I've never been able to find again

Yes it had caught a few decent fish. Never a metre plus cod, but a few in the 70's and one in the 80's.
Lure had a really nice action for a big profile hard body and was quiet buoyant too. Could troll it at shallow - mid range depth or really get it down deep if need be. Was also one of my favourite looking lures.

Someone on the Lurelovers.com site solved the mystery. Apparently its a Muldoon Big Mong. Maybe an earlier model as they don't appear to have the angle in the bib these days.
