Buying soft plastics and jigg heads online

Post by PatRollo » Mon Oct 22, 2012 4:13 pm

Hey guys,

Been searching aimlessly for a long time now looking for a good place to buy soft plastics and jigg heads online at a decent price.

I'm very good at losing them and am getting sick and tired of paying through the nose whenever I walk into a tackleshop.

I will happily buy in bulk so if anyone has any ideas or even places to go around Geelong that wont rip me off so much, id really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I buy jigs online from this seller in Korea. Unfortunately, he only sells round jig heads, no bullet or wedge.

though you may have to trim a bit of lead in the jigs, I find his product very nice. Good quality hooks and value for money. Jigs cost almost $1 each could be more locally. I can get them from this guy for less than $0.20 each, a bit more for bigger jigs - delivered. My previous order took 7 working days to arrive.

Well last time I cheaped out and bought some rip off plastics from ebay, they turned out to be solid but brittle (useless). I'm just sick of buying old soft plastics at tackle shops where all the curl tails are bent and some partially dried out and just lose all the action they're meant to have.

I was hoping someone would know of a wholesaler of sorts where I could still get the Berkley style plastics in larger quantities without having to sift through shelves to find gear thats still in good working order. I'd be even happier with some suggestions of brands that I could try out, for mainly estuary and bay fishing.

Thanks Fish-Cador, just ordered a few roundies from that seller. Happy to tinker with the heads a bit if I can save a bit of money!

I just sent off a few emails to Berkley here in US and here is Aus, so hopefully my complaining will land me a few freebees! Haha

I once bought the cheaper version jigheads and probably lost the "fish of a lifetime"!

Hook bent straight out of the fishes (Snapper) mouth!

Is it really worth saving a few dollars in this instance?

I lost some nice fish too while using branded Berkley Nitro jig heads worth $1.50 each. Lost a few too using the squidgies jig heads. J-hooks became I-hooks  I guess we are all bound to lose a fish or two if we hook something too big for our terminal tackle.

The jigs I bought from that Korean seller in eBay are being used for salmon and flatheads. Never had an issue yet but I know, it will happen soon. Something big will eventually grab my lure and if the hook is not properly set or the fish is simply too big for my terminal tackle, I will lose it.
