Everyone's favourite surface lure for natives?

Post by matari » Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:23 am

What is everyone's favourite surface lure for natives? mine would have to be the surface codger in purple and white because it has caught my only surface fish. Cheers Matari

I like the Taylormade Surface Breaker and have had a good run on cod with them and a few Yellas caught as bycatch too. They also make a couple of smaller models that are aimed at Bass.

Haven't landed a cod on surface lures (few boofs though), but I like jitterbug. Bigger size for Cod.
Small jitterbug and storm popper surface for aussie bass.

Planning to go to yarra when the weather permits, trying my luck for cod on the surface. I have black jitterbug, thinking I might need another one.
There are many options out there in the market. Warlock, Jackall Pompadour, Taylormade, etc.

If I'd pick one, what should it be? preferably under $20

jackall pompadours are a bit more on the expensive side around $30 each. if you can pay $25 for a codger surface lure it is well worth it. swims great makes a heap of noise and casts pretty well. i am kind've biased because it's caught my only cod off the top and i can't comment on warlocks cause i've never used them. Cheers Matari

Yeah, everything jackall is expensive. I'll look around the shop for codger, thanks.

Anaconda has junior pompadour for $23.96 at the moment, but too small for cod.
