It's always good idea to go lightest possible.

Are you looking for lake or river lures?
I'm assuming lake.

Just stick with 6lb leader, dropping to 4 in lakes won't really change anything.
Not knowing what you already have a basic kit for trout and redfin in lakes would be something like.
Strike pro bob n spoon
Strike pro flatz minnow
Berkley ttail minnow
Size 1 jigheads in 1/8, 1/12 and 1/16 oz
Tasmanian devils (14g if you're rod can cast it other wise the smaller 7g)

Grab 1 or 2 of each of them and youll have a kit like that will get you onto fish most of the time

Tassie devil, rooster tail, Mepps, Celta, various spoons.
If not windy and no need to cast far, various hardbodies work too (Double clutch, rapalas, etc)

I haven't actually used the berkley range. They all look like they should work pretty well though, they are based on some pretty successful lures. For what you're looking at I would skip the slurp and go with the bender and the jerk if you do want to get them.

Colour is a pretty preferential thing, I normally stick to the natural side for trout with silver and gold baitfish patterns and some more natural greens. I typically have a handful of brighter colours with me but they aren't my first choice.

All of the suggested lures above will catch Trout / Redfin. Suggestion, research each lure, then select 4>6 that you are happy with and go and buy $50 worth. If they all work for you repeat. If not select and buy some others.
