Good gear at good prices

Post by Aaronvgp » Mon Aug 24, 2015 11:35 am

Just wondering where people buy most of their gear from. I'll be honest and say most of my hooks and sinkers come from Kmart and used to be big w at Eastland but big w at Eastland don't don't do fishing gear anymore. They have lures there too at better prices than the chain fishing tackle stores I have been to. I went to a chain store and the price of the Jarvis walker metal lures 15-60g were twice that of Kmart.

I don't know, maybe I'm a bit tight when it comes to money but the franchise stores seem to be way over priced.

I think Big W have got out of the fishing game, the store at Forest Hill no longer stocks fishing gear.
I get sinkers and swivels and sometimes Gulp Sp's at Kmart but that is about where it ends

Sinkers and lures from Kmart, YGK braid from jpangler.com, owner hooks in bulk from eBay. Rods and reels I just look around for a special.

I just wait for a sale or clearance from the big names.

When it comes to sinkers, bells, glow sticks, pliers, etc, I always buy them from Kmart, some of the stuff there is just as good as a "big name" store's.
You know what you'd rather be doinnnn

Also I forgot, fluorocarbon leader from speciality fishing and squid jigs from Japanlureshop.com. It's really easy to compare prices if you're ok with buying online, you can usually find a vendor on eBay offering free postage at any given time.

Sneaky Fisho has some good deals from time to time but just be aware that a lot of their stuff is marked up A LOT before they discount it so it is often about the same price as other places.

It's a bit **** at the moment anyway due to the low dollar. With any luck the local shops will lower their prices but I doubt it.

Regular customers at independent stores always get good prices and expert advice. I make a lot of my own sinkers from lead from jobs but yes I get swivels small floats and sinkers from k mart some lures occasionally but I too wait for sales to roll around..
