Hi Guys,
What type of rig do people generally use fishing for snapper landbased? ie. at Mt Martha
I typically use a running sinker rig when fishing from a boat, wasn't sure if this was the best for landbased or if it would be more susceptible to snags than a paternoster?
Cheers.

Re: Landbased Snapper Rig
I'm using a pulley rig with a snapper lead instead of a star.
While the busted products are good, I just made the clips myself from some wall clips from bunnings, or you can cut off an old 8/0 and use that instead.

Re: Landbased Snapper Rig
I'm always using one of each when chasing Snapper. My bigger outfit has a running sinker (single or double hook) usually with a full pilly (head chopped off). I buy the clips from e-bay, pretty cheap. The smaller one is generally a paternoster, half a pilly or squid and sometimes chicken. As for results;
Paternoster: Worked better for me when it came to pinkies (upto 35-40cm)
Running Sinker: Bigger ones this season have hit running sinker (could just be the size of bait though) with the exception of a couple on snapper snatchers..
I have however noticed more big bites with no hookups on paternoster. Same deal as boat i guess, they just take the running sinker and go. By the time they feel the weight, its too late..

Re: Landbased Snapper Rig
Hi Drew. I use both at Martha. One surf rod running sinker 2x 4/0 hooks and a paternoster on the other surf rod 1/0 top hook and 2/0 bottom hook. Pat rig gets most bites...cheers

Normally have one pulley and one paternoster. Same method for the pulley as dougiek.
