Which transducer do you have?

If that is a P66 then they were most likely small fish.

Wake-up early and be at your chosen spot, anchored, burley in the water no later than 4.30AM.
Fish until 7AM and if you haven't caught anything, pack-up and go home!

Then if you are still keen, come back and be at your chosen spot, anchored, burley in the water no later than 6.30PM.
Fish until 9PM and if you haven't caught anything, pack-up and go home!
I do not agree with this at all.

Really? Interesting. Yeah it's a p66. I thought those looked like pretty solid marks? Maybe that could be the issue.

What are you doing? What baits are you using? Are they frozen from a high turnover location or from random servo? What rigs? What leader? What hooks? How are you presenting the bait? Are you using berley?
Hey Ducky,

Majority of the trips have been PPB fishing 4am-8am, a couple of evening trips as well. Been sounding around, finding fish then anchoring on them. Been fishing mainly top end of the bay, but might try over the East area.

Bait is good quality, from Vancouver bait supply in Willy - mainly silver whiting. Though all fish taken have been squid heads, frozen not fresh from Lee Rayners shop. Burley I use is cubed pillies thrown in every 5 minutes or so. Plus I suspend a burley pot 1 metre off the bottom with chook pellets, tuna oil and pilly frames.

Use 30pd supple trace, 5/0 octopus hooks 2 hook rig with the top hook snooded. Light sinker. Also generally run 1 rig with a 6/0 circle with squid head/strip pinned.

The one piece to the puzzle I wasn't sure about was sounding especially with my old outdated lowrance unit. But with my new furuno, i'm pretty confident that when i come across them it's fish they're pretty unmistakable and crisp

Anyway, I'll keep plugging away!

Must be doing something wrong mate because my brother has been catching for 2 months, no sounder, pilchards and salmon for bait, occasional squid bait if caught fresh.

If the fish won't eat try lightening up on the lead, or even no lead at all.

the prime times to fish for snapper early mornings be on the spot where you want to fish before first light and berley and late afternoon to evening but you will catch fish during the day ive caught plenty of snapper and gummys while going for snapper during the day bagged out a few times during the day . but as i said the prime is early morn and late arvo to evening and sometimes night time but the sea lice can be a problem
