Re: Leader
Boat or landbased?
if Boat: PPB, WPB, Offshore?
if LB: Rocks or beach?
In short, typically between 20-40lb, depending on how much "sport" you want, and how difficult the location is. Some people go lighter, others go heavier, but I think about 20lb in PPB (which is probably where you mean) is about normal.

Re: Leader
Westernport 60lb. Bait fish with risk of huge bycatch. Ppb 10-15lb. Lure fish only. 20lb on the old bait rods

Yeah, true. In some spots in WPB i will go 60lb or heavier. You're greatful if you hook a big giller, a eagle, or something else toothycobby wrote:Westernport 60lb. Bait fish with risk of huge bycatch. Ppb 10-15lb. Lure fish only. 20lb on the old bait rods

Re: Leader
Lol , pinky season here in Lakes Entrance. I am using 10lb on a 2-4kg rod with a running sinker.
Yesterday competing with 3 other guys. 1 using soft plastic, other 2, 50lb on Paternoster.
The first 7 fish on board I had 5 of them.
In summer I have to up grade or risk losing a gummy or big snapper, so I go to 25lb and a 10kg rod. I have landed few gummies on my light rig.

There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
