Who wants to help a hack Catch a snapper

Post by col1 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 2:41 pm

As the title suggests I'm on a mission to catch a decent snapper this year Iv had my boat for 2 years but due to 2 young kids and work I really haven't had much time to put into it,this season I'm hoping to change that. Iv really only caught 1 decent snapper and a handful of pinkies so far
After much searching through the forum the planthis season is: fresh bait and my trusty unweighted pillies
Sound around till I find the fish then drop anchor
Berley and plenty of patience, I'm based in Werribee and have always launched from there but without much success on the reds, not asking for anyone's secrets but any help would be greatly appreciated would love to get my boys onto a good fish this year

It wont take too long for you to find out that they are on around Werribee as the ramp will be choccas. Over the years Ive had success around the right from the boat ramp in about 4 to 5 metres and I believe they still get them in that area from the reports from some of the members on here. Google marks such as the finger and deep off Werribee/Pt cook and you may be able to find some gps marks that will put you in a general area. Good luck for the season

Williamstown and the area in front of station pier / princes pier usually fire up early for snapper, plenty of good info on here and the usual Facebook port Philip bay fishing groups have up to date information on the areas where the fish are being caught. Good Luck

Early season, go to the east. Mt. Martha, Mornington and slowly head north. By November, hit Williamstown.

Bait collection is important I recommend investing in a vacuum seal unit.
