Post by Fish-Hunter » Fri Sep 02, 2011 4:35 pm

The new Snapper season is upon us , many happy times to be had by all the fisho's out there "myself" included . Also a reminder for all fisho's to do the right thing & NOT to keep undersized snapper & stay within their bag limits , happy Snapper hunting to all :r .

Having not hooked one of these beast yet, I must admit I'm fairly excited about the potential of the coming summer months! Can't say I'm too excited about fighting the "part-time" fisho's who refuse to battle the hard winter months, yet seem to think they own the piers come the warmer days - as has been evident already on my last two pier visits in the sunshine

Hey LP, if you are new to snapper season in VIC, you may not know the rules yet. You have to make a booking to get your spot on local piers. It is the same as securing a camping site. Call the local council and get the permit. However, no one will check on your fishing spot reservation permit after you have set your line. You do however need to fight for your right to fish when you invade someone's space. :lolf:

On the serious side, there are lots of a-holes out there. They won't let you go near them. They will cast over your line if you do and blame you afterwards. Surprisingly enough, when you find your own quiet space and start cathing fish, they will swarm on your spot and push you out. If you cant cast straight, forget the piers, you will be looking for trouble.

To top it up, many will play songs that only their ears can tolerate...meaning songs with lyrics other than english. No offense to other multi-lingual people out there but this is true. Please dont play your native music out loud as I dont pollute the air with my own native ceremonial voodo head-shrinking music which may irrirate your ear drums. Why not use ear phones instead of blasting the place out of existence? I am staring to think that this is one of their tactics to ensure no one sets up his gear near them. Leave those radio at home and bring your rubbish home!
OF ALL THE THINGS I LOST, I MISS MY MIND THE MOST.

A stark contrast to the motherland! How's this for your local pier - no word of a lie - taken this May, also known as "summer" in England by yours truly - you can imagine the fight for a place on this eh?!!! And yes, it is barracaded off halfway down - some people do choose to "climb around" by the way.... People wonder why immigration is a problem.....

http://i52.tinypic.com/znluo7.jpg - hope this link works...

But yes, fighting for a spot amongst 40 blokes isn't my idea of a good time.... A Yak looms I fear... :captain:

Geez never knew you blokes & girls had it so tuff out there... :shocker:
As cheater said....get some private real estate, best thing any fisho could do I reckon, especially if its like how it is described above..
Than again, I always hear off horror stories at ramps but am yet to see one myself...
