A couple of Western Australian anglers scored this very impressive catch while fishing the 10 km offshore from Bunbury in the state's south- west earlier in the year. The pictured snapper caught by Jesse Ghasseb was supplied to Fishing World mag by John Curtis, state recorder for the Australian Anglers Association ( WA branch). The huge red measured 114.7cm in length, weighed in at 16.1 kg and is now the subject of a pending state record claim. The current national snapper record is 18.4 kg for a fish caught at Outer Harbour Port Adelaide SA in November 1994.
