Hi Lost Pom,
thats a great looking fish, no wonder you've cheesy grin. :D
I fished with 6 oz cast out as far as i could and let it bounce round on the bottom. almost a bite every cast, but you do pick up a lot of crap from the bottom if you don't hook a fish after too long.
Might see you around one of the piers one day.

Re: Whoop Whoop - Finally got that LB Big Red!!!
Had a stab at Corinella fri night with a little luck. Another snapper about 45cm give or take n a pinkie around 35cm. A nice banjo of about 5kg and 5 stingrays all which bust me off. The tip of my innovator graphite rod snapped also, lifetime guarantee apparently - call the shop or call the manufacturer? It was a compleat angler purchase. The break was mid cast so the whole rig went with it! Bit frustrating!
Got two other rods to throw out off cowes tonight as the lady isn't well n I've no work tomo - fresh trevally the bait of choice - here's hoping......
Seems like a nice night for it. Happy fishing to all.

Cheers boys. and yes Brett, sometimes I forget how funny you are! Tool.
Mixed emotions again last night! Managed a total of 1 snapper at 45cm, 5 mackeral (that i kept), a pike, a banjo, a port jackson, a baby brownish ray and a filthy big eagle ray which....... SNAPPED MY SERVO ROD!!! Haha - gonna have to learn to cut those buggers off - only a $40 dollar cheapo so no real stress there. Hopefully my graphite lovely gets warranty replacement though....
Bloke next to me nailed two Snaps - one about 40cm and the other comfortably pushing 60/65cm - was a gooooood fish. Few squid around also (not that I was fishing for em) - the ones I saw wee good size hoods - 25/30cm types all caught on bait..... Mackeral everywhere, apart from the 5 I kept, I probably threw about 30 back - just drifing bits of pilchard n squid on a longshank 1/0 - too easy really. Plenty of Couta caught and Pike also....
All in all, a decent nights fishing and, if anyone is in the area, Cowes Pier after dark, is a haven at the minute - esp in close.
