Great report RB - this is the sort of information which members look to so as to improve our sport. Not 'secret spots' but strategies techniques and tackle. A key message is persistence not just on the day but over time.

EPs will become an even more important sportfish with their stocking in impoundments. Like Murray cod as an angling community we will need to transfer our knowledge from wild fisheries and adapt it to suit the conditions in impoundments. This will take time and experimentation. There will be a 'win-win' with new fisheries and a shift in pressure off the wild fisheries.

Learn the FG and do it well quickly even if you forget your glasses and get your expensive lures back re-rig that lure.
The FG not can be a bit tricky. I bought one of these which has helped me a lot to tie better knots:

I'll back up your comments on tackle. The old Ugly Stiks were great rods. You need quality tackle, not necessarily top of the range. The most important part is the angler - the ability to learn, read the conditions and persistence.

Thats knot assist is a great product. Think I will purchase one.

This is the technique I use. Your product does the same but without the braid cutting into the fingers.

Thanks Truedogz I totally agree about the positive impact the stocked fisheries will have and the reduced pressure on wild fisheries. Think we will be adopting a lot of techniques that work for impoundment bass in places like Glenmaggie, Blue Rock and up Nth as well as impoundment Barra techniques and the methods the U.S. tournament guys use in their comps.

Have privately stocked a farm properties dam's with permission from the farmer with a small group of friends. We have Cod/Yellas in one and Bass in another and some Silver perch will be interesting to see if we get some Boof's in 10 years time.
