Salt Water fishing times
I've been fishing land based fresh water all my life and never fishing land based salt water fishing. I've always woken up early and gone fishing from sunrise because the fish are more active at that time. Is this the same for fishing salt water from the shore or pier? Or is it the same all day?
Re: Salt Water fishing times
Depends on the species your after. But as a blanket rule, sunrise and sunset most definitely are the most active times..

Re: Salt Water fishing times
For whats its worth....I have a fishing mate who doesnt care about tides or times in the salt or fresh.
He just goes whenever he gets a chance and often catches nice fish.
Sometimes we over think things.

Re: Salt Water fishing times
depending on what you are targeting can depend on the tide but mostly when ever haha
I've caught fish in 'wrong' times and caught nothing In ' best' times. when you catch a fish note the weather/time etc and you should hook more and more often

if your mate is landbased and fish certain locations in WPB he will be very dissapointed if he didnt pay any attention to tides :rofl:barra mick wrote:For whats its worth....I have a fishing mate who doesnt care about tides or times in the salt or fresh.

I believe time is key to everything. We all know fish are most active at sunrise and sunset as well as being influenced by tides. Unfortunately if we all waited for the perfect day and time we would never get to fish so just go when you can....beats working or staying home!

You are spot on if you can only fish 1 day of the week and things don't line up are you going to stay home.. my belief is there are 2 tides every day the longer I am on the water I am bound to fish one of themKeenAds wrote:I believe time is key to everything. Re: Salt Water fishing times
I agree, best time to go fishing, is when you get a chance to go fishing. In westernport I have found most spots fire on certain tides, and at certain times of the year. A fishing diary helps a lot with this. If I dont have a spot for a time im heading out, just means its a chance to find a new one!Nude up wrote:You are spot on if you can only fish 1 day of the week and things don't line up are you going to stay home.. my belief is there are 2 tides every day the longer I am on the water I am bound to fish one of themKeenAds wrote:I believe time is key to everything.
