Lol ive seen ppl use spark plugs and tyre nuts. A much more primitive aproach was a simple stone tied on. When i asked why they told me it was much more enviromentaly friendly this way since metal rust quickly and break down faster than lead ones. Still got a laugh out of it though

You are right on spark plugs and stones.
I once ran out of sinkers and the stones saved my day. Pain in the ass to tie but works just fine.

Well lesson 101 for you flashy kids (rofl)
I learned to fish with a bamboo pole and mono line ( sold in 1 meter lengths)joined together and tied directly to the tip of the bamboo pole. No reel . So you tied enough line to get as far out as possible. And used small pebbles for sinkers!!!
Still caught fish just like all the fancy gear i have now :rofl:

last year saw a guy using drilled steel rods a guy i know was using wheel weights
