You need a pretty expensive rod to target yakkas though

Haha. It’s a guy on Facebook that uses like a $1200 outfit to target yakkas. Absolute wank factor.

I’ve caught em on turtleback worms and occasionally on small hards. But not an expert by any means.

Burley and a sliver of pilchard on a 1/0 hook nails em.

You need fresh pillies from the market.
Garfish rig with a sliver of fresh pillie fillets arr what is needed
They are being too fussy atm is my first hand info from.flinders.
Very flighty and a hit and miss.
People who target them regulay are doing well. Others are getting donuts.

Night time seems the best.

I caught them at cowes pier a while back on chicken strips, pilchard fillet, thin squid strips, and various thin minnow or wriggly tail grub style plastics. Saw people using sabikies rigs and were getting double n tripple hook ups but it looks like they had small cubes of pilchard hooked on thier sabikies rig. Great fun on light tackle , dont need anything more than 6lb or 8lb and double drop rig worked well for me. Plastic was more fun than bait and if schools thick you can catch more on plastic than bait imo. Goodluck and hope you bag out

Wank factor? A fish like the mighty yakka deserves to be caught on a proper bit of kit, and not some piece of **** kmart rod with a sabiki tied on the end
