Who What when where why how etc.
Fishing for gummies big chunk bait western port. Identified it before it took a run and bit me off. Wasn’t targeted but provided entertainment.

I got bitten off a couple of weeks ago , was asking for it though with light leader in sharky waters. next time we go with the wire option
spending tomorrow night offshore wonthaggi windmills.

sharks will be the target species. may be a little late for bronzies or a mako, but ya never know ya luck i suppose.
Kimtown - surely you're not heading out there after dark chasing sharks on that bloody jetski? Lol. You are definitely in with a chance pal. It may be hit and miss for a mako, but definitely in with a chance at a bigger model bronzie as the big ol girls will be in the area thinking of spawning.

2-3yrs? Bloody hell! Are you putting bait on those hooks? Haha. If you are specifically chasing a toothy out the front tomoz night, I'd recommend having a good spread. By "spread", I mean distance behind the boat and distance under the surface. Maybe a bait in close only a cupla metres under the surface, a bait say 20-30m behind the boat under a balloon presented mid-water, and one around 50-70m back, hanging around 5m off the bottom. These figures are dependant on drift speed. You want your baits hanging in your burley trail. Not all sharks will come right up to the boat and chew on your burley bag.

Will definitely be a big spread for sure, but planning on anchoring as it's just a little too risky drifting at night I feel. A couple balloons out between 5-10 metres depth and 50-100m width. Then bottom bashing for gummies and schoolies (aka wrasse rigs)

But yeah, I've had rotten luck since trying for a decent bronzie... I dunno. Caught hammers and other toothies just fine.. bronzes just seem to avoid me. I think they know they are my dream fish lol

Catch a fish on a Fijian charter
With my current form, I am taking on a similar goal to yours! With a slight adjustment, removing the 'on a Fijian charter', which basically leaves 'catch a fish'!
cheers

Have you done so,?
What is the best purchase you have made?
No haven’t bought a wife. But people do.
Best purchase I made was my boat doesn’t talk back.
