Sea Anchors

Post by karlws1 » Fri Apr 12, 2019 3:51 pm

Hello all, I would like some feedback on the idea of using a sea anchor when drifting for squid? I'm reasoning that slowing down keeps me over the reef for longer and giving me a better chance of catching some squid. Another thought is to anchor up and berley up and cast and retrieve my jig.
As usual all feed back and thoughts are welcome.

yes they certainly will help. i have seen people using it before for squid.
although in saying that, it is a very cumbersome and fiddly process to deploy and retrieve, i would rather just not use it.

Another idea is to take a couple of buckets out with you with a short length of rope attached to each. Hang one off the bow and one off the stern. An easy and cheap way to help slow down your drift ;)

Yep perfect they were originally designed for squid fishing.

They work well.

Very easy to deploy throw it in the water and easy to retrieve pull in the small collapsing rope.

Very good on windy days. Especially when you have your full clears up and start sailing.
