Packed my gar **** as well, maybe I'll be less useless at catching them than usual.

4litres, Gar Fishing can almost be about "finesse" , , , , I like how you said "less useless .... than usual", that describes me as well. I think Gar and Snapper Fishing are very similar , , , , you almost feel useless , , , , until you hook one, then you feel like an expert when you are reeling it in. Then once you cast out again, that "expert" feeling fades over the next 10 or so minutes and that "useless" feeling creeps back in.

i thought you were 12? how the heck do you get out so much if your still in school?

i wasn't at school because it was report writing day and my mum works in mornington so she drops me of before work and my grandad picks me up.

Bagged out on flatties, tried for gars for a bit after that but didn't get any hits on the float. I had a squid bait under a float for most of the day as I was drifting but that didn't get hit either, even though I saw some decent weed patches on the sounder. Still a good day, I was surprised at how hard they were hitting given the water temp. Had a triple hookup at one stage.







Copped a flattie spine in the thumb too.

Is there a whiting spot a few km to the north of long reef? I saw a number of boats off in the distance but couldn't be arsed going all that way without knowing what they were chasing.

One inclose 2-3 meters about 2k from pt wilson ramp or so...
