4litres, Gar Fishing can almost be about "finesse" , , , , I like how you said "less useless .... than usual", that describes me as well. I think Gar and Snapper Fishing are very similar , , , , you almost feel useless , , , , until you hook one, then you feel like an expert when you are reeling it in. Then once you cast out again, that "expert" feeling fades over the next 10 or so minutes and that "useless" feeling creeps back in.

Bagged out on flatties, tried for gars for a bit after that but didn't get any hits on the float. I had a squid bait under a float for most of the day as I was drifting but that didn't get hit either, even though I saw some decent weed patches on the sounder. One inclose 2-3 meters about 2k from pt wilson ramp or so...
