Fish for squid, they're not affected by barometer since they dont have swimming bladder. Problem solved... :-D
Haha yea. Never really thought about it that way :)

Neither do sharks.

I had a diary once awhile ago now.
It was interesting going back to have a look at it after sometime.
I would note down the wind direction, moon phase, pressure, what time the high tide was.
If it was overcast/clear etc.

There were certain trends/patterns, when I did have those really good sessions.
But in the end I narrowed it down to just a couple of elements.
I’d go back and fish in those conditions and would have success.

5 years worth out of 1 diary book and you'll have most fishing answers already written down. Whenever you mention keeping a diary of fishing trips its always met with the most dumbfounded look imaginable. Fish are pattern behavior driven first and foremost.

As for barometric pressure. Best sessions I've had and know of are when the arse has completely fallen out of it. Depends how much you enjoy the bashing back through 30knot+ squalling winds though

I was told by a mate that higher barometric pressure affects the fishes stomach or swim bladder in some way and makes them more hungry and likely to feed, but I took it with a grain of salt as it seems pretty farfetched. Barometric pressure probably does have an effect on fishing, i've never researched it or done an experiment but if you recorded your own findings it would probably provide some insight. Usually the only things I check is wind speed/direction and tides.

..................................................................................................
I gave up and just put in as many trips as I could as opposed to specific days / nights...
...........
Do this and record the data yourself. If there is a trend, it will show up. Also, you don't miss out fishing on a day when you think it is not worth going cos of your beliefs.
cheers
Jim

Sometimes "overthinking" things, is a disadvantage, keeping it simple seems to work sometimes too.

"Having a flick , , , , is sometimes the only trick" , , , , um copyright on that, that goes into "The Book of Bugatti"

Cheers, Bugz
