When I was fishing lake tyers I lost a rig in the evening while bank fishing so I waited until next morning to be on the kayak to get my rig off the branch and lo and behold when I pull it in there is a 6 inch crab hooked by the carapace.

Weirdest ones would be spider crab PPB. Sea pen in wpb.

Foul hooked a tiny 3-4cm hood squid casting a plastic in 19m of water off chelsea a couple of years back. Perfectly sat on a 3/0 jig head for my next cast

Cobby I have caught a few eps that way pinned behind the gills.
I've pinned a few in eye sockets, cheeks and sides before but never actually just wedged in the gape of the hook until Sunday. More surprising given the amount of moonlight too.

I was fishing just up from cowes pier and caught a bug like a morten or Balmain bug. Tasted great.
They love getting a leg caught in a small long shank hook around Warneet channel too.

Fishing in my local, i kept having these weird hookups, then lose fish. But would come back with scales on the hook point. Happened for ages. They were heavy hookups too. Was driving me bonkers.
Then one day it came up tight. After a great fight...a Luderick came up. Pinned in the same spot as yours. Obviously had a swipe at it and the hooks stuck!
If that's where I think it is upstream of the bridge at the shops a worm with a stinger gets a mouth hookup with th luddies
