Filming underwater with a gopro

Post by eddyt » Sun Dec 08, 2019 4:49 pm

Today's fishing report, dropping a GoPro off a boat. Those yakkas are actually pretty hard to catch sometimes when they are finicky!

Apologies for the shaky cam. I'm still trying to work out a way to stabilise the video... Next time I will try filming off a pier.

We use tony’s Tackle landing net poles with a home made uni joint. We tried selfie sticks but were not strong enough in the current

Interesting. There's few of them but they're just nibbling.
Any reason why you didn't get the sinker all the way to the bottom?
Smaller sinker and longer dropper might do the trick when they're finicky like that.

Might give the smaller sinker a go next time. They were pretty aggressive earlier but the bite allowed right down after the sun came out (when this video was taken).

Rope with a clip tied on the end, then attached to the bottom of a waterproof go pro case through the holes where the mount is (unscrew the mount and take it off)

I've seen some videos where people have attached the mount to the top of a heavy burley cage. That way the camera is right where the fish are and the greater weight of the cage means the image is nice and stable.

It's usually because the boat is rocking, but the berley cage might stop it from spinning around randomly. It's a great idea though. Going to experiment a bit with adding more weight.
