Port Albert Fishing Reports

Post by fisho999 » Fri Sep 16, 2022 7:44 am

hey all,
so I got to port Albert at around 4:30 yesterday. I was out on the piers by 4:50. I ran 2 bait rods and a lure rod. the current was strong and the water was choppy. I fished cut pilchards until it got dark and I had about 4 bites. it got dark at around 6:30. I got back to the place I was renting and set up one of my heavier rods with a whole pilchard and fished from the sure until 7:30. I didn't catch anything but it was still great.

I started today fishing the sure from 600 to 730. I didn't get anything but I am going to the Piers again later for a few hours, maybe the whole day if I can? I will use squid and pilchards and drop a sabiki rig for fresh bait if I can.

this is where all my port Albert reports will go, stay tuned :tu:

Nice, went to Port Albert two years ago (Dec), got eaten by sand flies and this is what I caught off one of the piers:

i just got back from fishing, 4 hours and a 23 cm flathead where all that was caught. it was low tide when I got back to the rental house and I collected some crabs and other creatures for bait. i got some red crabs and some European shore crabs. i got some mussels from the pier.
i am here for 2 more days, until Sunday.

i am thinking of doing some fishing at high tide just where I got the crabs, any tips? they will be dead bait.

a full report will be out on Monday hopefully, I'm just writing quick snippets of my day. the full report will be detailed.

you are wasting fishing time gathering the wrong bait, you need a sand pump to get bass yabbies (one arm bandits) if anything... Go buy yourself a bag of pipi's and a bag of small bait size prawns keep them in a cool esky with ice to keep the bait in good condition you will get better results. Fish the incoming tide from the start, there's heaps of whiting around there.
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:

If you don't mind me asking were the European Shore crabs killed prior to being used as bait?

100% mate, i wouldn't want it to be alive and somehow get off the hook, they were all dead when I used them for bait. the ones I didn't use were returned to the water dead. they are the saltwater carp I guess.
