Stony point help

Post by Master-pro » Fri Aug 23, 2013 10:59 pm

Might try out stony point pier tomorrow and would like to know what species hang around there. Would I have any luck targeting snapper/pinkies or better off trying for whiting? Any info on tides or tides would also be appreciated. Thanks

Hi MP,

I've fished Stoney Point a few times, Whiting, Flatties and Squid are always around, Pinkies, Snapper and Gummy's are a chance too.

I read a report during the week of a decent snapper taken there during the week, maybe around the 5kg mark.

I try to fish around high tide, maybe 2 hours before until 2 hours after, fresh bait is readily available there too.

I hear the fences on the pier have been reconfigured, I haven't been there since it was done, maybe you could take some pictures while you're down there for us all.

Cheers & Good Luck,

Cam.

Been slow this week. There's a heap of grass whiting there but that's about it. Been there 3 times this week and that's all I've caught or seen being caught. Have only seen 2 average size squid taken aswell. Have had baited jigs out and haven't had a touch on them. Personally would just go to flinders. Hastings has had a heap of salmon around during high tide. Also caught 3 squid there early in the week.

Cheers,
Nathan

Also Squid strips seem the go for stony point, whereas prawn seems to work for flinders
