Portland-Port Fairy 21/05/16

Post by snorkly » Tue May 24, 2016 2:01 pm

On Thursday found out having Saturday off from work, so decided to go Portland. After few phone calls find a spot at one of local charter(Game On-Joe). Luckily few people didn't turn up and only 2 of us as a customer on the boat.(and 2 crew) Went out at 7AM and bagged out by 9:45! Fish were around 110 metres of water and all caught on skirts.Between 14-18 kg. Then we went bit shallower and tried for barrels with huge skirts and xraps but no luck. By the lunch time we were back at the ramp. After quick lunch I went to Port Fairy surf beach behind the golf course(Killarney). Had a bit of snooze in the car and tried for salmon, using tuna frames/heads and off cuts for berley bagged out in about hour and a half. Some on the lures and some on bait. My initial plan was to stay at the surf that night given full moon and opportunity for gummies and mulloway. But overly tired to do that and come back home. After all it was a good trip. Tight lines.

Cheers guys, it was fairly good trip. If only happens all the time! LOL. There is some SBT at the moment over there, hopefully they'll grow in size in coming weeks/months! Also That beach is always productive for me, never returned empty handed

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
