I was out there on the same day as you, trolled all over the 40m, 60m, 100m lines from the rocks to the light-house and back for zero.

Were you guys amongst the group of boats when that whale put on a show at Bridgewater?
Nah wasn't us, we were basically on our own the whole day. Just the way I like it ;)

Did the fish take a lure in close or further back in the spread?
Heaps of guys fish for them but few hook up. It cant be because there isn't many fish. I think its got a lot to do with lure position and size of lure.
When i hooked up it took the shotgun which i think was a 9 inch lure

Cheers, Anth

Yeah this one was on the shotgun as well, a 10" pakula crystal colour.

You're right, there are plenty of fish around I marked up plenty. Getting em to bite is the hard part

I reckon lures around 10inch and way out back is the way to go.

I'd like to change it up one day and cube for them with some baits hanging in the cube trail. Its just a bit tough sitting for a couple hours in that swell.

On the day we hooked up a bloke got a 80kg fish out deep on a smelly old slimey chunk bottom bashing.
