Up at Exmouth

Post by scott__henning » Mon Jan 23, 2017 3:00 pm

I'm up at Exmouth for 10 days, currently 3 days in.

Was a shocker the first 2 days with 20knots+ winds making it very sloppy, we raised a few blacks but couldn't stick for more than a few minutes.

Yesterday however was a ripper of a day. We went 2-2-1 on Blue's, and got my first Blue Marlin, pretty stoked.

We managed to capture on the GoPro the bite of the blue that we lost, he went nuts, check it out:

Yeah his bill looked to be a bit shorter than a normal Blue. Must've happened a long time ago though cos it had grown a new point

Very nice Scott! I would love to catch one of those one day :P
Are blues the most common of the marlins up there or did you just get lucky?
Congrats on your first blue btw

The blues are the big target up here, plenty of them about.

Saying that, they get striped Marlin mixed in with the blues, and lots of smaller blacks in the shallower <100m water (with the odd big one)
