Yesterday went 4-4-2 on blue marlin, spent most of the day hooked up!
Marked the first fish on the sounder, turned around to tell my mate and before I could get the words out the rigger popped.
Second fish also marked him and the same thing happened, turned to say we marked one and the rigger popped again, this time he went ballistic and jumped right across the spread, ending up hooked up to 2 lures which made for an interesting fight!

Third fish we barely had started moving for 30 seconds, and my mate was just fitting the last lure out on the rigger when it got smashed. We were on this fish for over 2 hours, and after all that time he barely realised he was hooked. Had him right up next to the boat and he was a 500lb+ fish, absolutely enourmous. Once he realised he was hooked he thrashed on the surface a few times and threw the hook :oops:
Right at the end of the day, we slowed to idle and pulled the lures in. 2 cranks on the last lure and bang, blue marlin on what?!!!! Couldn't believe it. Unfortunately he didn't hook up as well because we weren't moving so I think he was just hooked on the bill, and he threw the hooked after about 15 minutes.
Absolutely crazy day on the water!
