I've found that when there are heaps of boats around, some of them drive straight through the patch of fish rather than picking off the edges of the frenzy. They drive the fish deep and they will not take your trolling lure. If you see the bait ball deep on your sounder and can distinguish the larger fish from the baitball, you can slow your boat down and downrig to the right depth and troll there. But you need a down rigger and need to slow your speed down. That may work when boats are everywhere and they are driving the fish deep.

Awesome advice Joe. Couldn't agree more. Thats what i had to do for a school of kingfish earlier in the year. I came back to the ramp with 4 fish (ran out of live squid, otherwise im sure i would get more) and people were asking what i did. They tried everything. but i really think the downrigger helped keep the squid deep.
Of course I talk to my self while fishing.. sometimes I need expert advice! :fishing:

Good question - I don't know. I've never tried jigging for tuna.

Chinese whispers. Got a text a few weeks back unfortunately unable to have a go at the moment. Wondered into a tackleshop overheard a few chatting about it. So much for top secret lol.
