Some people drive all day for 5 days in a row with no fish.
Thats fishing mate.
Not much else you can do except keep a eye out
Bigger the ocean the worse your luck is mate.
No other real tips.
Try reading current reports and good luck
I know f all about game fishing but keen to have a go found some decent fish around bait on my sounder offshore from flinders yesterday done a short troll but was just doing a flatty drift.cobby wrote:That's basically all you can do. Cover the miles to get the smiles (fish). Always look for clean blue water as opposed to sh*t green stuff.rb85 wrote:Smile it's a big ocean so onto of that is there anything else?
They have been closer to the island than the schanck the last week, so it's likely they were further east meaning the report chasers were in the completely opposite direction to the fish.
From my understanding in Portland area Apollo bay there’s certain things such as reef or currents that hold the bait that help bring the tuna up.

Re: Australia day in the Strait
Went out yesterday arvo for a look the plan was kings but the onshore came up a bit strong to troll headlands solo.
Found a bunch of birds and solid bust ups around them positioned myself to drift adjacent to the school not OVER it and started casting a white stick bait few casts no hits went to change rods to a different lure and some clown decides to cut me off and drive over the school fish gone birds gone opportunity lost.

Yeah **** happens. Frustrating though no need to drive through the middle of the school or cut me off. Could have pulled up behind me and drifted alongside taking turns repositioning. Would have liked the hand to throw a few more lures in to at least try and get one.

Is there some sort of etiquette to be followed when approaching a school of fish if someone is already there?rb85 wrote:Yeah sh*t happens.
